In The Abstract

Danvers, MA – July 25, 2026 – A private opening reception was held this Thursday, July 23 rd for the In The Abstract exhibit by abstract artist, Jesse Mireles at the headquarters building of Cell Signaling Technology, at 3 Trask Lane, Danvers MA. The exhibit will be on view through the 25th of September 2026.  

In his presentation and slide show, Mireles spoke of the trajectory of his artistic career beginning with his fascination with art in his early childhood. His presentation touched on events that led to his early career as a graphic designer soon after high school and which fed his desire to explore abstract art. 

He discovered that abstract art gave him the freedom to do art that was “totally intuitive, that pushed the boundaries and that served only his need for self expression”. Fruits of that discovery is the work that is on display in this exhibit, on the walls of the main hallway and in the conference room of the CST headquarters.

In his slide show he reviews the processes that he used to execute the works on exhibit. The techniques include layering, wash and combinations of layering and wash. He finished with showing examples of the processes of collage and print, specifically giclée prints which are also in the exhibit. 

At the end of Mireles’ presentation an engaging, lively response ensued when he invited questions from his audience of mostly scientists, employees of Cell Signaling Technology. Mireles explains that the works in the In the Abstract show invites the audience to interpret what they see in each work of art. That, he believes is one of the beauties of abstract and all nonrepresentational art. 

About the Artist:

Jesse Mireles is a Mexican-born abstract artist whose work blends emotional spontaneity with bold visual language. In addition to his transition to abstract art, Mireles has enjoyed an internationally recognized career as a graphic designer and illustrator. His abstract paintings are known for their expressive energy, wash and layered surfaces, and evocative themes, often inspired by intuition and the human-nature connection. The In the Abstract exhibit marks the first solo show at Cell Signaling Technology for Mireles. However, earlier this year he participated in a group show at CSP with the Abstract Artist Group of New England.

About the Exhibition:

The In the Abstract exhibit features 56 works of art that include a full range of paintings, collages and prints by abstract artist, Jesse Mireles. For anyone who loves abstract art there is something for everyone. Sizes for the art in this show range from 5.5” square to 4 ft w x 6 ft h paintings. As usual for Mireles, art in this show is based on the natural world as in the paintings Woodland and De Oro (Of Gold). A few touch on the artist’s concern and awareness of the fragility of the human condition as in the collages, Buscando Refugio (Seeking Refuge) and Desaparesido (the Disappeared). This is a bold, compelling and emotionally charged exhibit that is rare in its breadth, exclusive because it is by appointment only and limited for viewing until the end of September.
